This website is for anyone struggling to understand the basics. It is primarily aimed at anyone completing the Foundation Tier GCSE, but the methods would work for Functional Skills and even students in key stages 2 & 3.
My goal is to show you a few simple techniques that can be applied to general problem solving in real life, not just to pass an exam!
The first method I use is called a ratio table and generally involves doubling, halving and multiplying/dividing by 10.
The second one is called bar modelling and involves drawing boxes!
A significant proportion of the GCSE foundation tier can be completed using both of these techniques, so you can save yourself a lot of time and effort by simply mastering these methods.

About
Albert has been teaching since 2012, and has worked in both secondary and FE settings.
He has been teaching in FE since 2017 and is a specialist at Edexcel GCSE Foundation level, using a variety of different methods to help learners progress in the subject and fundamentally understand it better.
Since completing a Professional Lead Development Programme in 2022 through The Centres of Excellence in Maths, his whole approach and mindset towards teaching has completely changed.
Albert's mission is to embed mastery techniques throughout his teaching using manipulatives, bar models and ratio tables to show how maths can be accessible to all students.
